Welcome to ASTER unit
The ASTER research unit (Département ACT Sciences pour l'action, les transitions, les territoires) is a research unit with an experimental facility consisting of a mixed-crop dairy cattle farm, located in the heart of the Lorraine plateau in the Vosges plain. Located on the Mirecourt site, it is attached to the INRAE Grand Est Nancy Center. The unit employs 30 permanent INRAE staff and welcomes several PhD students, post-docs, contract engineers and trainees each year. The ACT-ASTER team is multidisciplinary, combining agricultural sciences, social sciences and computer sciences. The unit's project focuses on the relationship between agriculture and territories, to support the transformation of socio-technical agricultural systems towards greater environmental sustainability. The unit contributes to several interdisciplinary research networks and maintains partnerships with agricultural development and natural resource management organizations.
