BIBS platform collection

Welcome to the HAL collection of the Bioressources: Imaging, Biochemistry & Structure (BIBS) platform. BIBS is a platform of the National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and the Environment (INRAE) hosted by the research unit "Biopolymers, Interactions, Assemblies" (BIA, INRAE UR1268) and part of the TRANSFORM research division (TRANSFORM: Science for Food, Bioproducts and Waste Engineering).

BIBS proposes multi-scale physicochemical characterisation of complex biosourced systems through several forefront and complementary technologies, with strong skills in data treatment. The privileged areas of expertise are food and nutrition, agronomy, terrestrial and marine plant sciences, biomaterial sciences.
BIBS develops and provides methods for the physicochemical characterisation of raw or processed bioresources, from the nanoscale to the millimetre scale. BIBS provides access to a full range of techniques and skills in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), microscopy, mass spectrometry, chemical screening and data treatment (spectra and image analyses).

All BIBS activities are carried out according to the ISO 9001 accreditation since 2009.
BIBS is accredited by the GIS Biogenouest (since 2008) and the GIS IBiSA (Infrastructures in Biology, Health and Agronomy; since 2010).
BIBS is also integrated in two INBS (national biology and health infrastructure), Phenome-Emphasis, since 2012, (modern, versatile and high throughput infrastructures and methods for characterising panels of plant genotypes in a context of climate changes) and CALIS since 2021 (Consumer – Food - Health, federation of technological resources in nutrition and dietetics, in food science and nutrition, for a better health benefit of the consumer). BIBS is also part of an INRAE research infrastructure called PROBE (Platform for profiling properties of food and biobased products) since 2019.
