Gérer la fréquentation dans les espaces naturels : méthodes d'études et systèmes de suivi. Aspects quantitatifs, qualitatifs, et écologiques. Revue bibliographique

Abstract : This review emphasises on methods for studying outdoor recreation in wildernesses. Methods are presented with their advantages, drawbacks, and limits of validity. The first section presents methods for quantifying outdoor recreation. Social approaches, presented in the second section, are complementary to quantitative methods in order to understand social perceptions and trends of recreation over time. The third section deals with ecological impacts of outdoor recreation (wildlife and soils). Since these questions are in relation with the much debated concepts of carrying capacity or acceptable changes, the integration of these concepts within monitoring systems are presented in the fourth section. Then, the fifth section deals very briefly with medical or psychological approaches in understanding Man and Nature relationships.
