Aging of flexible polypropylene geomembranes

Résumé

This study concerns the aging in landfills of a very recent geomembrane made from flexible polypropylen. It has been conducted in three French laboratories (LIRIGM, University of Grenoble, Cemagref and INERIS) using immersion tests in pure solvents and temperature accelerated tests. Structural and mechanical observations are conducted and results show that the main aging mechanisms are the loss of additives (antioxidants) and the geomembrane deformation due to the absorption of organics.
