Peut-on quantifier le territoire ?

Abstract : We investigated the limits of quantitative approach in the territory analysis. Indeed territory analysis cannot limit itself to a formal analysis. The analytical process appears at two different levels: constitution of database at the scale of "Bouches du Rhône" area, linked to a geographic information system (GIS), development of a statistical analysis for a first investigation of the logics of territorial evolution. The land rent is considered as a "median object" of analysis. It can supply a support to discussions between the various disciplines interested in the territory. The presented statistical analyses allow to question the idea of land market homogeneity. These analyses show two levels of structuralization in the land market spatial distribution: a first level of local order ("Bouches du Rhône") in terms of nearness with Center Businees District, and a city level of structuralization strongly directed by the city management policy and by some landscape or social characteristics of districts.
