GIS, graphic modeling and MAS: evolution of a rural system of a french tropical island and its relation to polluting pressure. Changes in agricultural activities have effects on the polluting pressure. In this paper we introduce a methodology to contribute to the knowledge and the modeling of the rural system organizing these activities, as well as to test its evolution. GIS, "chorèmes" and MAS, used jointly, characterize this methodolgy, allowing a local and regional, constructivist and dynamic understanding of the rural system. By doing so, we come to emphasize the role of land ownership and spatial management of exploitations on qualitative and spatial variability of polluting pressure.
