Limites du protocole 'Réserves' dans la cadre de projets de recherches

Abstract : The MEDD dendrometric protocol is to be carried out in French forest reserves. Its shortcomings are here pointed out from a research point of view. Indeed, ecological research programs need intensive plots, where dendrometric variables and faunistic or floristic datasets can be co-analysed. Conversely, a national monitoring network implies a grid of extensive points well scattered inside a forest entity (reserve, forest). The MEDD dendrometric protocol therefore need to be adapted to provide relevant data to ecologist researchers. For instance, the enlargement of the focal area of measurements may improve the spatial representativeness of the plot and enable to take the local stand heterogeneity into account. Moreover, supplementary measures of dead wood pieces are proposed to strengthen the description of this complex habitat.
