              <p>Vine-plot mapping and monitoring are crucial issues in land management, particularly for areas where vineyards are dominant, like in some French regions. In this context, the availability of an automatic tool for vineyard detection and characterization would be very useful. Due to the periodic patterns induced by this culture, frequency analysis appears to be a very suited tool for vineyard detection in aerial images. A recursive process using Fast Fourier Transform algorithm was developed to meet this need. This results in vine-plot segmentation, with boundaries in polygonal form and characterization with accurate estimation of interrow width and row orientation. To foster large-scale applications, tests and validation have been carried out on standard very high spatial resolution remote-sensing data. About 80% of vine plots have been well or under-segmented and 11.4% not detected at all. More than 84% of vineyard surface have been detected.</p>

              <p>La cartographie et le suivi des parcelles viticoles sont des enjeux cruciaux de la gestion des territoires, particulièrement dans les zones où la viticulture est dominante, comme dans certaines régions de France.Dans ce contexte, la disponibilité d'un outil automatique de détection et caractérisation des vignes est très importante. Du fait des motifs périodiques induits par ce type de culture dans les images aériennes, l'analyse fréquentielle est un outil bien adapté. Un procédé récursif basé sur la Transformée de Fourier Rapide a été développé pour répondre à ce besoin. Il permet la segmentation des parcelles, les contours étant donnés sous forme polygonale, et leur caractérisation par l'estimation précise de la largeur et de l'orientation des rangs. Dans l'optique d'applications à grande échelle, la validation a été faite sur des images standard à très haute résolution. Environ 80% des parcelles ont été correctement segmentées, et 11,4% non détectées. Plus de 84% de la surface viticole a été détectée.</p>
