Pour un meilleur équilibre sylvo-cynégétique. Des pratiques favorables aux cervidés

Abstract : In France, the deer populations have increased considerably during the last 50 years. So, now, the management of these populations aims to reach or maintain an equilibrium between deer and the forest. Population management is the main tool for this. Indeed, forest regeneration is sometimes strongly affected by deer (browsing damage mainly) ; then, the limitation, even the decrease, of the deer abundance is the main issue. However, forest management can also help to maintain the equilibrium between deer and the forest. This document deals with forest management recommendations that aims to improve habitat quality for deer and to decrease the risk of browsing damage. The deer species considered in this document are roe deer (Capreolus capreolus) and red deer (Cervus elaphus).
