Mieux intégrer la biodiversité dans la gestion forestière

Abstract : Forest ecosystems are currently facing rapid changes in climate and silvicultural practices. To preserve their biodiversity and ensure their adaptation capacities to these changes, we have to better understand how forest ecosystems are functioning. This guidebook provides fundamental bases to better integrate biodiversity in forest management: assessing biodiversity preservation priorities in any given forest: Which questions are to be asked? Where to find the information? taking into account these priorities, adapting forest management through management plans and practices. Adapted to the context of French metropolitan forests, it promotes a balanced strategy between individual and collective actions, based on an up-to-dated scientific knowledge on forest biodiversity. In this book, professional forest and land managers will find useful information to feed their vulgarisation documents and communication actions towards public and private forest owners. The owners would also find here guidelines for a better integration of forest ecology in their management.
