Impact of ozone disinfection of wastewater on persistent pollutants removal at full scale
Impact d'une désinfection à l'ozone sur l'élimination de micropolluants persistants : évaluation pleine échelle
Résumé
Ozone application proved to be a good solution for the reduction of concentrations of a wide range of emerging pollutants in municipal secondary effluent even at very low dosage originally found suitable for disinfection action only. In the WWTP studied, ozone was shown able to degrade close to 60 % of the substances detected and particularly more than 80 % of the organics with removal rates over 70 %. Simultaneous control of by-products with possible induced toxicity is however required like for any oxidation treatment.
