Résumé

The Rhône river transports significant amount of fine which are stored behind the numerous dams along the river. Periodic flushes are necessary to empty the dams of their sediments. This study is focused on the impact of the flush on the Miribel-Jonage area, which is a pumping area for the drinking water supply of Lyon. The bed clogging in this zone involves a problem of recharge of the groundwater. This study describes several scenarios of management to avoid the bed clogging. The results show that the deposits of sediments are inevitable in the area. But it is possible to minimize its thanks to the decrease of the flow in the arm near the pumpings, or to the increase of speeds in the same arm to avoid the deposit of sediments, or thanks to the decrease of the downstream water level through a lock or a new construction in the downstream of the system. For all the tested simulation, it appeared that the finest part of SSM settle on a relatively low proportion. On the other hand, the coarsest part of the SSM settles in a large proportion. Based on the results with the whole population of the fine sediments; the best solutions are : either a very low flow : the deposit mass decreases by 55% compared to the typical situation; or a very high flow : the deposit mass decreases by 50% if the flow increases fourfold in regards to the typical situation; but the best results are obtained for a decrease of 1m of the downstream water level : the deposit mass decreases by 70%. Finally, the choice of the best solution depends not only on hydraulic conditions but also on economic constraints related to the hydraulic works management and to the a new construction.
