Felled trees as a rockfall protection system, experimental and numerical study

Résumé

This research consists on an detailed study of the physical phenomena governing the impact between the rock and the tree stem, the mechanical resistance, the energy propagation into the felled tree and the evolution of these properties depending on wood degradation. The final aim of this research work is to develop an accurate numerical model that allows simulating the protective role of the felled trees in a wide range of situations.
