The limits of splitting : a framework to test model spatial distribution

When it comes to deciding of the necessary spatial representation of a catchment, hydrologists need to choose between spatially lumped and spatially distributed approaches. The purpose of our work was to identify wether an optimum level of spatialisation exists. We propose a framework to evaluate the effet of the distribution over a large set of 181 French catchments. For each type of basin we study the trend of model efficiency with the number of subcatchments.
