Measuring 3D forest structure by lidar from space: a chance for sustainable forest management

Mesurer la structure 3D des forêts par un lidar spatial : un atout pour la gestion durable des forêts

Résumé

After a brief presentation of the interest of spatial remote sensing for broad scale forest monitoring, the potential of lidar technology to characterize and monitor forest ecosystems is presented. Then the STEM-LEAF project, developed to tackle pending issues to optimize a spaceborne vegetation lidar system is presented.
