Modelling the effects of surface and bottom geometries on lidar bathymetric waveforms

In this study, we aimed to test these effects using an extended bathymetric LiDAR waveform simulator Wa-LID. Extensions within the existing simple analytical Wa-LID model include i) an analytical module for modeling the geometry of the water-bottom interface in 1-D, and ii) a stochastic module to parameterize the rugosity of the air-water interface and based on Monte Carlo realizations of mean slopes for capillary waves. This analysis was performed considering a wide simulated LiDAR footprint (
