Transfer of pesticides via subsurface lateral flow: tracing experiment and high resolution monitoring

Transferts latéraux de pesticides en subsurface : expérimentation de traçage et suivi à haute résolution

Résumé

OBJECTIVES : • study lateral flows and transfers thanks to an original experimental design • trace water driven by lateral flows in order to explore lateral flow pathways • explore the influence of water pathways on pesticide transfer mechanisms. HIGHLIGHTS : • trenches are more suitable than monitoring wells to measure preferential flows • pesticides move with lateral flows according to their physico-chemical properties • preferential flows play a major role in lateral transfers • sorption mechanisms are lower in preferential flows than in matrix flows.
