Crop mapping and yield estimation in the Bekaa Plain of Lebanon
Cartographie des cultures et estimation du rendement dans la plaine de la bekaa au Liban
Résumé
The objective of our work is to study the potential of using remote sensing data in order to reach an accurate outcome of crop mapping and yield estimation/forecasting in the Bekaa plain of Lebanon. The principle of net primary productivity (NPP) will be followed depending on light use efficiency (LUE), Absorbed Photosynthetically Active Radiation (APAR) following Monteith’s model and Land Surface Energy Balance Algorithm (SEBAL) will be used to describe the spatio-temporal variability in land wetness conditions and soil evaporative fraction. In this regard, biome type and land wetness are expected to have impact on crop radiation use efficiency.
