Utilising the complementarity of ecological and agronomic approaches to manage the agroecology of permanent grasslands in the Midi-Pyrenees region
Résumé
In this study, data from permanent grasslands in the Midi-Pyrenees region were examined from both an ecological and an agronomic perspective. We used a database containing information collected during surveys of phytosociological patterns and foraging practices to define ecological and agronomic indices and classification systems. The ecological approach clarified environmental characteristics and established a link with grassland conservation issues. The agronomic approach clarified agronomic characteristics and established a link with foraging practices. The combination of these indices and classification systems provides those working in the field with a common tool that facilitates the agroecological management of permanent grasslands.
