Science, technology, innovation and governance for the goat sectors

Résumé

The world is presently facing key challenges due to the amazing growth of the population, shortages in renewable energy and environmental problems. Growth, once, the solution to create more wealth, more jobs, more prosperity and happiness appears not to be anymore an efficient paradigm to solve these problems. The objective of this introductive presentation is to show at what extent goats could be a part of the solution to face them, keep people in rural areas, improve food security and eradicate poverty. To achieve such ambitious objectives, more innovation and technology will be required. But innovation will not be based on the old top-down model. Innovation in goat farming has to be based on partnership and co development with all the actors and trans disciplinary approaches have to be enhanced.
