O papel de cientistas e de lideranças do movimento social na construção da agroecologia no Brasil e na França

Abstract : In the 70’s new ecological production styles appeared, namely in France and in Brazil. They were groupedunder the term of alternative agriculture, as opposed to the conventional agriculture model. They were supported by NGOs and then evolved progressively under the umbrella of agroecology as a main denomination. The objective of this paper is to analyze the interactions among scientists, social movement and the construction of public policies, since these interactions and intensive dialogues can play a key role for the legitimacy of agroecology in these two countries, among others. Thus such inter-relations are evidenced through the trajectories of a set of key-actors; based on the analysis of direct interviews and secondary data (curricula vitae). These trajectories generate concurrent interpretations of agroecology that can be classified and differentiated in three main aspects: conceptions of transition processes, target public of agroecology and integration of products within the market. We conclude that the differences in envisioning agroecology are directly related to distinct theoretical background and specific socio-professional trajectories
