Construire des outils en partenariat entre recherche et développement. Le diagnostic des pratiques fourragères en zone fromagère AOP du Massif central

Abstract : Changes in requirements for AOP dairy certification are compelling dairy farmers to increase the proportion of forage in animal diet. Hence a need for new diagnostic tools for foraging practices aimed at evaluating the empirical knowledge of farmers and increasing technical skills in managing permanent grassland. As part of the PRAIRIES AOP Massif Central scheme, a joint project has been set up by research and development for developing a new diagnostic tool. The 2 phase methodology was determinad (knowledge transfer to Development in the form of a prototype tool, and improvement of this tool based on field experimentation carried out by agricultural consultants) by merging current knowledge in the area of research with the experience acquired by agricultural consultants and farmers. The final tool will facilltate the exchange of mutual knowledge and experience. It will help farmers evaluate their practices, and adjust and redefine the specifie rules that apply to grassland systems in compliance with AOP requirements. This scheme also emphasizes the expertise of agricultural consultants who specialize in foraging systems.
