Comparing eddy covariance and soil water balance methods for evapo-transpiration measurement in Palmyra Oasis in Syria

Résumé

In this study the eddy covariance method results for daily evapotranspiration ETeddy in the Palmyra oasis were compared with those obtained from the water balance method ETbal. The eddy covariance measurements were made with a 3D sonic anemometer and a Krypton hygrometer. Evapotranspiration estimated by the water balance method was determined using aTDR for soil moisture measurement and a tensio meter formatric potential measurement. A total of 9 pairs of ETeddy and ETbal daily values were compared. Good agreements were found between the two tested methods with a RMSZ of 15
