À l'occasion des travaux entrepris dans le cadre du projet "pin complet", les équipes de recherche de l'Inra Nancy ont analysé différents paramètres de la qualité du bois du pin laricio: masse volumique, propriétés mécaniques, coeur rouge, aptitude au déroulage et au tranchage, vitesse de cicatrisation des plaies d'élagage artificiel. Il en ressort que le bois de pin laricio - quoi qu'un peu lourd - a des propriétés excellentes, peu affectées par la vitesse de croissance, ce qui incite le sylviculteur à une gestion intensive
