Composition chimique et digestibilité in vitro des feuilles d’arbre, d’arbuste et de liane des milieux tempérés en été

Abstract : We analysed leaves from 31 tree, 14 shrub, 7 liana, and 9 herbaceous species collected in different regions of mainland France in August from 2014 to 2017. We found that woody plants displayed a wide range of nutritional values, which was similar to the range seen in traditional herbaceous forage. Several woody species (Morus alba, Ficus carica, Salix caprea, Prunus spinosa, Sambucus nigra, and Passiflora edulis) had high nutritional values, as high as those of good-quality forage species, due to their pronounced energy content, CP content, and mineral content. Other species stood out because of their high levels of certain minerals (P—Mespilus germanica and Frangula alnus; Ca—Cornus sanguinea and Tilia platyphyllos) or condensed tannins (Robinia pseudoacacia, Vitis sp.)
