Paleobotany, the study of fossil plants, is, like all facets of science, continuously progressed by “standing on the shoulders of giants.” As a discipline, paleobotany is fortunate to have had a number of women among the giants in our field. The incredible stories and contributions of these women could fill several volumes, but here are some notable and formidable figures from around the world. British scientist Marie C.
