Definition : Precision feeding, or tailored feeding, is a strategy based on the frequent and individual (or small group) adjustment of the ration composition and quantity based on the animal’s nutritional requirements. Precision feeding should improve animal efficiency and reduce feed cost and nutrient excretion. Efficiency is defined as the ratio of outputs to inputs; for example, feed efficiency is calculated as body weight gain per unit of feed consumed.
