A 4-year-old girl presented with second-degree burns on her face and scalp caused by spilled boiling milk in October 2018. She underwent a skin graft on her temple with closely monitored wound healing on her scalp. After several months, pustules, ulcerations and crusts appeared on the area of monitored wound healing (Fig. 1). Bacterial culture revealed growth of Staphylococcus aureus. Because of the course and appearance of the lesion, a diagnosis of EPDS was suspected. The patient was thus started on topical steroids (betamethasone) once a day. After four months, complete healing of the wound was observed, and the dosage of topical steroids was reduced to application every second day. After one month, there was a recurrence and topical steroids were increased back to once a day. After the second recurrence, treatment with topical tacrolimus twice daily was given until complete healing (one month). Application of topical tacrolimus was reduced each month: once a day, followed by three times a week, then twice a week and finally once a week. At once a week, the patient presented systematic recurrences, and we therefore continued maintenance treatment twice a week, which resulted in complete healing.
