The MilKey project aims at assessing the environmental, economic, and social sustainability of European dairy production systems, and at identifying ‘win-win’ farming
practices for sustainable and greenhouse gas (GHG) optimised milk production.
This data collection guide was prepared to guide stakeholders wishing to conduct a sustainability assessment of dairy production systems. Specifically, the document can be
used to facilitate the process of collecting and reporting the farm environmental and economic information necessary to conduct a sustainability assessment based on the MilKey
data template. The guide gathers and defines all variables included in the first four parts of the MilKey data template (i.e., Part I: General farm information and crop production,
Part II: Dairy enterprise, Part III: Beef enterprise, and Part IV: Economic data).
