The issue of climate change is particularly important for the agricultural sector, whose production is directly linked tothe climate and where the effects are already observed. Although farmers are aware of this, they only make marginaladjustments to mitigate these effects. Adaptation levers to improve the resilience of farming systems have already beenidentified within the different compartments of the farm. But all this knowledge is fragmented and difficult to integrateat the same time by both farmers and their advisors. This is why we have designed a serious game to confront farmersand student, with future climates and put them in a decision-making situation. To build the game, we brought togetherpeople involved in projects related to adaptation to climate change, i.e. teachers, trainers, advisors, and researchers invarious disciplines: agronomy, meteorology, animal science, economics, and sociology. The game is made up of twoparts: a common board where players choose adaptation levers (for crops, pastures and animals), react to hazards andobserve environmental performances; and an individual board where they decide on the cropping plan and animalnumbers. The goal of the game is to reach objectives (income, reduction of phytosanitary treatments or work time)according to the character played. Crops can be sold or used to feed the animals. Crops, animals, but also technicalchoices and responses to hazards affect greenhouse gases, crop protection treatments, net margin and labour time. Thegame includes climatic and economic hazards that affect the characteristics of the crops and animals. Their effects cansometimes be countered by an adaptation lever. Some of these levers can be activated in reaction to the hazard, whileothers must be anticipated for the effect to be active. The first tests of the game have confirmed its ability to simulatethe consequences of climate changes that force players to change their practices. It must be combined with knowledgeinputs to help players understand the mechanisms and the effects of global changes and the levers of adaptation. Thenext step is to evaluate the players’ ability to implement the adapted practices on their farms.
