              <p>Characterisation of an accelerated airflow in a rectangular channel is carried out using Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) during the permanent and transient phases. The flow is accelerated from rest to a centre velocity of 8.6 m.s 1 , corresponding to a Reynolds number based on the half-height of the channel of Re = 11.10 3 . The steady state is characterised using mean and fluctuating velocity profiles for different longitudinal positions, making it possible (i) to compare the study flow with literature flows and (ii) to study the developed character of the flow at the chosen measurement locations. The transient phase is then studied using an original PIV treatment to overcome the measurement difficulties associated with the variable displacements of the seed particles during the acceleration phase. In this part, the flow starts from rest and reaches the same final velocity at the centre as in the steady state (8.6 m.s 1 , i.e. Re = 11.10 3 ) in 3 s. The temporal evolution of the velocity is measured at the centre of the channel and close to the wall, opening up new perspectives for analysing the flow in the transient phase.</p>

              <p>Une caractérisation d'un écoulement d'air accéléré dans un canal rectangulaire est réalisée par Vélocimétrie par Images de Particules (PIV) pendant les phases permanentes et transitoires. L'écoulement est accéléré depuis le repos jusqu'à une vitesse au centre de 8,6 m.s 1 , correspondant à un nombre de Reynolds basé sur la demi-hauteur du canal de Re = 11.10 3 . Le régime permanent est caractérisé à l'aide de profils de vitesses moyennes et fluctuantes pour différentes positions longitudinales, permettant (i) de comparer l'écoulement de l'étude avec les écoulements de la littérature et (ii) d'étudier le caractère développé de l'écoulement aux lieux de mesures choisis. La phase transitoire est ensuite étudiée à l'aide d'un traitement PIV original permettant de s'affranchir des difficultés de mesures liées aux déplacements variables des particules d'ensemencement lors de la phase d'accélération. Dans cette partie l'écoulement part du repos jusqu'à atteindre la même vitesse finale au centre que pour le régime établi (8,6 m.s 1 , soit Re = 11.10 3 ) en 3 s. L'évolution temporelle de la vitesse est mesurée au centre du canal et en proche paroi, ouvrant de nouvelles perspectives d'analyse de l'écoulement en phase transitoire.</p>
