The presentation highlights how LPIS (Land Parcel Identification System) data can be used in agronomy to analyze land use, crop sequences, and farm dynamics. It allows calculation of crop proportions and modeling of rotations over time, Case studies in France show how LPIS ican be used in water protection zones to promote low-input systems through strategic land reallocation.changes but also temporary plot exchanges, especially for demanding crops like potatoes. Tools like RPG Explorer enable detailed analysis of cropping systems and farmland evolution, It is used for water protection but also for carbon assessments (via ABC’Terre). The approach is being expanded, with future tools planned for use beyond France and for analyzing practices like double cropping..
