Implicit Generalized Predictive Control of a Wastewater Treatment Plant: Application to the SimBio Model
Résumé
This paper presents an implementation of an implicit Generalized Predictive Control (GPC) strategy applied to a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) modeled via the SimBio simulator. Without identifying an explicit dynamic model, the control law is derived directly from system input-output behavior. The main goal is to regulate the effluent ammonium (NH4+) concentration by manipulating the aeration rate, while coping with perturbations such as influent flow and ammonium concentration. Several configurations of the control parameters were tested and evaluated using process performance indicators. The obtained results show that the proposed controller allows a good tracking of the desired set-point while presenting a low energy consumption during the considered period of the experiment.
