Modélisation d'un traitement par compostage - Développement d'outils expérimentaux d'étude du procédé et conception du modèle

Abstract : (trad auto)Current environmental policies tend to favour biological treatment channels such as composting. However, their future is linked to the quality of the finished product and the safety of the treatment for the environment. Given the difficulty in interpreting the results obtained under experimental conditions, process modelling seems to be the most appropriate tool to better understand and manage the reaction processes that determine product quality and the environmental impacts of the treatment. The objective of this thesis work was to design a composting treatment model using a pilot reactor. First, the biological kinetics of organic matter degradation were studied by a respirometric method and modelled by a process of growth and decline of microorganisms. This model is used to assess the biodegradability of substrates and to test the influence of parameters such as temperature and humidity on kinetics. Secondly, the characteristics of the gas flow within the composting reactor were studied using a gas tracing method and modelled according to a piston dispersion flow, guiding the writing of mass and heat transfers via the gas flow. Finally, the biological model and the mass and heat transfer models were integrated into mass and energy balances in order to design a global one-dimensional composting model. The application of the model shows that the evolution of the simulated parameters is consistent with the experimental results. The model has yet to be validated on new data.
