Etude d'ouvrages de correction torrentielle soumis à des poussées de berges - rapport 1ère phase

Abstract : The implantation of correction dams in torrential sites with banks instability presents a strong strategic interest for the global efficiency of the correction mechanism. The efforts exerted on these works are not well known and often lead to partially or totally damaging these structures. This aim of this study is to progress in the knowledge of the intensities and ways of action of the efforts on the works, to propose the bases of a sizing method for the engineer, and then to study the technical solutions adapted to the movements of the banks. After having recalled the general principles of torrential correction and the different mechanisms of land sliding, this study basically presents the experiences coming from the installation of works of art on unstable sites before tackling the specific pathologies of torrential correction dams. A field survey highlighted the complexity and the range of interaction mechanisms between the sliding and the structures. In a first step, the bidimensional analytical methods of determination of the sliding effort on works, based essentially on the notion of limit stability, are described and discussed. The propositions of development of these methods, along with their validation, are then presented. In order to progress in the knowledge of the kinematics of soil movement in the neigbourhood of works, the validity conditions of a wedging experiment on a reduced model were studied in parallel with the set up of a digital simulation based on the method of finite elements. Finally, the technological systems and the different work designs that enable to limit the efforts due to sliding movements are briefly described. The following phases of this study concern the development of analytical digital methods, the confrontation of these techniques between them, the digital simulation of the phenomenon, and then on the design of a methodology of sizing and of digital tools for the estimation of the efforts applied to the cases of torrential correctional dams.
