From a dying to a gardened countryside? Forests, plantations, hedges and other groves in the Plateau de Millevaches (Limousin, France)

Abstract
On the basis of interviews carried on 14 institutional actors intervening in the rural area of the Plateau de Millevaches, we explore the hypothesis of an emerging new social relationships to trees. In this area dramatically afforested all along the XXe century, a qualification of spaces or of peculiar spatial objects in terms of "landscape" is emerging. In particular, objects that are the products of the integration between forestry and agriculture focus the interest of both the actors in charge with forestry and those in charge with agriculture; this could open the way to a reconciliation between foresters and farmers.
Le but est de comprendre les conceptions du paysage qui organisent la pensée des acteurs institutionnels intervenant sur l'espace du Plateau de Millevaches, orientent leur façon de poser les problèmes et guident leurs actions ; au-delà, il est de comprendre les significations qu'ils attribuent à l'espace et aux objets spaciaux du plateau, dont les arbres sous toutes leurs formes.
