Explorer l'hétérogénéité des attitudes environnementales et des préférences pour une réduction des micropolluants dans les eaux urbaines : une approche par choix expérimentaux discrets

Abstract : Environmental chemistry studies have found that household consumption of cosmetics, detergents, and pharmaceutical products may account for the increasing occurrence of chemicals of emerging concern namely micropollutants (MPs) in aquatic environments. End-of pipe solution and information provision aiming to behavioral change ideally combine to reduce concentration of these MPs in domestic waste waters, thus to be cost-effective. But, they are often opposed to each other. A choice experiment study was applied to investigate the preferences of the inhabitants of Bordeaux metropolitan areas and quantify their willingness to pay for setting up such policy scenario. As expected, estimates of mixed logit models in WTP-space confirm the presence of heterogeneity in respondents' valuation of good ecological status of water bodies, and the timing of sewage treatment plant upgrading. However, there is strong evidence the public prioritize sewage treatment plant upgrading over more information-oriented programs, and appear to be quite homogenous in their preference for these two wastewater management policies.
