Aptitude au contournement d’un gène majeur de résistance quantitative à Melampsora larici-populina : dispositif de criblage rapide, constitution de collections de souches et fréquence du phénomène

Abstract : Nothing is currently known about Melampsora larici-populina leaf rust genes that interact with resistance genes from its host. This project helped implement and evaluate a "fast" screening device to identify pathogenic strains capable of overcoming Rus, a model resistance gene being cloned. The project also allowed quantifying the frequency of Rus-defeating strains (50% in average) in pathogen populations potentially subject to selection pressure by this gene or, conversely, a priori not subject to its influence. The results confirm the considerable adaptive potential of the pathogen and open perspectives in the search for genetic determinants of the ability to overcome resistance at both the individual and population levels.
