Le commerce extérieur de la France dans le secteur bovin

Abstract : The French beef production decreases since many years, largely under the influence of a decline in the dairy herd (halved in 35 years). This decline in domestic beef supply occurs in a context characterized, first, by a decrease in domestic demand and, secondly, by some modifications in the positioning of the France on foreign markets. Despite the importance of his suckler herd, France has a deficit in beef meat in 2015 but a surplus in live bovine cattle. Beef imports are coming mainly from neighboring Northern European countries and are often related to dairy females. Exports are, meanwhile, dominated by a traditional flow of exports of live male bovine to Italy. The French trade with third countries remains limited both for import and export.
