La floculation et la coexistence dans le chemostat

Abstract : In this work, we studied a model of competition of two species on a single nutrient. It was assumed that the specie most competitive inhibits growth through the formation of flocs that consume less of the susbtrate than the isolated bacteria and that divides itself to give isolated bacteria. We determined the conditions of existence and stability of positive equilibrium. Then, we supposed that flocculation and deflocculation are taster than the pecies growth. We were also able to show that the most competitive specie which undergoes the competitions between these individuals can coexist with the second species.
