The Journal
Annals of Forest Science is an international peer-reviewed journal that publishes papers describing original researches in the multidisciplinary areas of forest and wood sciences, including long term forest dynamics, forest ecosystems, forest management under climate change, forests as drivers of the bioeconomy, wood sciences, and other relevant topics. Along with research papers describing original research results, Annals of Forest Science publishes review papers, opinion papers and data papers. Papers may be interlinked in topical collections to highlight specific issues. The editorial board comprises about 20 associate editors from the international scientific community covering most of the disciplinary areas addressed in the journal.
Annals of Forest Science ranked, in 2020, in the 1st quartile of forestry journals according to indicators provided by the SCImago Journal Rank and Journal Citation Report.
The journal is owned by the French National Institute for Agriculture, Food and Environment (INRAE), a public research institute. The roots of the journal date back to 1923 with Annales de l’École Nationale des Eaux et Forêts and to 1964 with the launch of the journal Annales des Sciences Forestières. Since 1999, Annals of Forest Science is fully published in English.
Since January 1, 2022, Annals of Forest Science is currently published in full open access by BMC in the frame of 5 years contracts with INRAE.
