Welcome to the HAL collection of the plant pathology unit

This collection lists the scientific productions of the unit that are indexed in HAL INRAE, the open archive of the National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and the Environment

Unit introduction: Our research focuses on the bacterial, fungal and viral diseases affecting fruits and vegetables grown in the Mediterranean Basin. We study the biology and evolution of these microbial pathogens as well as their interactions with host plants, the environment and agricultural practices, to understand better the epidemiological processes and to propose the most suitable control methods.

Our research contributes to the development of early and efficient diagnostic tools, of methods for epidemiological surveillance and evaluation of the risks of emergence of novel diseases, and of durable management strategies of varietal resistance in crops and biocontrol agents.

Our research unit comprises about forty permanent staff as well as young interns. The activities of the two research teams (MISTRAL, Virologie) rely on microbiology, serology and etiology laboratories, a regional molecular biology platform, a microscopy platform, experimental fields, greenhouses and climate-controlled chambers, and a workshop ensuring the maintenance and development of our facilities.
