Identification et caractérisation de l'aire de répartition marine de l'esturgeon européen Acipenser sturio à partir de déclarations de captures
Abstract : Data from 179 incidental captures collected between 1980 and 1994 over the whole European Atlantic have been analyzed in order to highlight the marine distribution of this species; It appears that the European sturgeon can be encountered from Bay of Biscay to Scandinavia and that captures occurred more frequently during the first six months of the year. The most frequented depth is between 20 and 30 m independently of the size of the animals. 57 % of the sturgeons caught have been recorded as death without any difference according to the fishing gear ; trawls caused more injures than the other gears.
