Approaches to water netwok management
Résumé
This paper examines how European countries have established different organisational structures to provide water services. The impact of privatisation and the regulatory environment is considered and how this may produce alternative solutions to the problems of network management. The environments and the resulting structures and driving forces for change are assessed and possible network management methodologies proposed. The United Kingdom is compared to Germany, Norway, France and Italy. Finally, some examples of computer-based capital investment and infrastructure planning tools are reviewed.
