Reflections, main steps and proposals on program for a recovery plan of sturgeon in the Rhône river, France

Résumé

The project comports preliminary steps. The first one, two years long, is aimed at determining which sturgeon species was historically inhabiting the Rhône river and the suitability degree of the environment for sturgeon reintroduction. Moreover, the potential impacts of sturgeon reintroduction on the environment will be explored and a first reintroduction plan will be written. Then, depending on the results of this first work, we will decide of a strategy for the next steps of the reintroduction project with consulting meetings with sturgeon specialists in Europe, concerned with sturgeon reintroduction plan. Then, we could build a more precise recovery plan for a successful sturgeon reintroduction in the Rhône river.
