Low cost differential GPS receivers (LCD-GPS): urban vehicle tracking

Récepteurs GPS différentiels bas coût : suivi de véhicule urbain

Résumé

It is very important for Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) nodes to know their own position for data stamping, data routing, synchronization, and other aspects. In small deployments, it's possible to configure nodes with their locations, but in the large scale deployment or when the nodes are mobiles the use of GPS becomes very interesting. The standard civil GPS is used for different applications but its current accuracy is not sufficient for all these applications because the standard civil GPS measurements suffer from many errors especially in city. To improve its accuracy the differential mode has been introduced. In this paper we introduce a new DGPS solution based on using a set of low cost standard civil GPS communicating receivers. Each receiver has a local view of GPS errors. They cooperate together in order to have a coherent and a global error correction. This solution can be used both for WSN and mobile tracking
