In situ calibration of the Polar Organic Chemical Integrative Sampler and suggestion of a performance reference compound
Calibration in situ du Polar Organic Chemical Integrative Sampler et suggestion d'un composé de référence et de performance
Résumé
The aim of this study is to propose an in situ application of the recent Polar Organic Chemicals Integrative Sampler (POCIS) with a performance reference compound (PRC). Previous works based on SPMDs showed that the use of a PRC provides a good correction of the environmental parameters. In a first time, DIA desorption, isotropic exchanges and its elimination kinetic constant were studied. An higher desorption of DIA, in comparison with the other studied molecules, was observed and isotropic exchanges were demonstrated for this compound. In a second time, in situ calibration of the POCIS and the use of DIA as PRC were performed. The time-weighted average concentrations (TWACs) estimated with the POCIS and an automated sampler were compared. The POCIS estimates were systematically lower than the concentrations obtained with the automated sampler whereas the corrected values (with the PRC use) were really close. Such a result showed that the use of a PRC gives an acceptable correction of the sampling rates and TWAC estimates. In this work, only one class of pesticides (i.e. triazines) was detected, so we have to apply the PRC approach to different classes of pesticides like carbamates, phenylureas and chloroacetanilides.
