Forest water budget is affected by stand composition and tree density

Abstract : Results suggest that mixed oak-Scots pine stands have a lower water consumption and that water deficit stress could be reduced compared to pure oak stands. However, the mixture does not seem to help to reduce the period of water flooding, which is a limiting factor to oak growth in spring.
