Bio-based adhesives

Abstract : Bio-based adhesives are of growing interest in recent decades not only due to their environmental interest but also due to their mechanical and chemical properties that are becoming increasingly efficient. The purpose of this chapter is to give a general overview of bio-based adhesives of the key issues for future development. We present the background of bio-based adhesives in terms of mechanical testing and the existing families of adhesives. We also present how future development may entangle market trends through the development of mixed adhesives.
