Contractualisation et diffusion spatiale des mesures agro-environnementales herbagères

Abstract : Farmers’ participation in agri-environmental schemes related to extensive grazing is analyzed in this paper from a French individual sample of the 2000-2006 Rural Development Program, initiated in the European Union. We focus on 265 316 cattle-breeders decision-making process in 2004 in addition with a located database to compensate the deficiency of information on farmers’ characteristics. In a first step, the introduction of localized information in a probit model to explain the farmers’ decision, improve the predictive capacity of the model (at a fine geographical level) in term of participation rate. In a second model we implement a Bayesian probit model with individual effects that bring out spatial interactions relied to the location of the decision-maker. The outcomes exhibit evidence of spatial dependence essentially in narrow geographic region. Reasons of these interactions are mainly due to the wide geographic diversity of the French productions systems and to social networks.
